Homasote Scramble

I started by cutting 5 sheets of Homasote board into 4" x 4' lengths.
( I was pretty happy with just the stack of them)

I was drawn to the subtle difference between the smooth surface of a razor cut and the rough surface of a saw cut.

Homasote Scramble became a root-like progression from an architectural column.
About 1000 pieces installed over about 10 hours.
Left in place for 4 days.

Twisted 4x4

Twisted 4x4.

My 1st piece at RISD. A Doug Fir 4x4 cut into 1/2" segments. The segments were rotated half a degree about the center axis and reattached. Then some light sanding.
The lo-res./pixilated quality of the piece inspired my next piece, Homasote Scramble.
